Goethals Bridge Planned Weekly Construction


UPDATED BRIDGES, TUNNELS AND RAIL ADVISORY

Additional closings for George Washington Bridge; lane closings also scheduled for Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing;

PATH’s WTC Station open this weekend


Lanes will be closed this weekend and/or next week at the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing for ongoing construction and repair projects.

George Washington Bridge:

  • The New York State Department of Transportation will close Interstate 95 from the upper level just east of the bridge from 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 and from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, April 21. Eastbound travelers from the upper level will be diverted during these times to Amsterdam Avenue.

Holland Tunnel:

  • One westbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Monday, April 22, through Thursday, April 25, from 11:59 p.m. each night through 5:30 a.m. the following morning. These closures are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.
  • One eastbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Monday, April 22, through Thursday, April 25, from 11 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the following morning. These closures are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.

Bayonne Bridge:

  • The bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, through 5 a.m. Thursday, April 25, and from 9 p.m. Thursday, April 25, through 5 a.m. Friday, April 26, for ongoing construction activities.
  • One lane on the bridge's northbound roadway (into Bayonne) or one lane on the bridge's southbound roadway (into Staten Island) will be closed Monday through Friday, April 22 through April 26, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Goethals Bridge:

  • To accommodate upgrades to the bridge's toll collection system, expect construction work in the toll plaza areas and intermittent overnight bridge lane closures.

Outerbridge Crossing:

  • The bridge's eastbound side (to New York) will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday, April 22, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, and from 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, through 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, to accommodate upgrades to the bridge's toll collection system. The westbound lanes will remain open. Eastbound travelers can detour to the Goethals or Bayonne bridges during the closure.
  • One lane on the bridge's eastbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Wednesday through Friday, April 24 through April 26.

PATH:

  • PATH's World Trade Center station will be open this weekend due to the celebrations of Passover and Easter.
