Ferry Transportation

Since 1986, the Port Authority has championed the re-development of ferries as a reliable, flexible and cost-efficient transportation mode that also acts as an important emergency planning and redundancy component for the agency's network of Trans-Hudson facilities.

Operation of the ferry terminals and ferry services is a public /private partnership. The Port Authority controls two ferry terminals, one at Hoboken and one at Battery Park City. It also manages the contracts of two ferry services from Hoboken to downtown and one ferry service from Hoboken to midtown.
