PORT AUTHORITY TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE AT LAGUARDIA AIRPORT ON SATURDAY JUNE 9 FROM 10 AM to 1 PM

No impact on flight operations; passengers and motorists may notice simulated smoke and numerous emergency vehicles on scene as early as 7:30 a.m. during drill preparation

The Port Authority is advising travelers and motorists of an emergency response full-scale exercise at LaGuardia Airport this Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The exercise will not impact flight operations, but the public may notice simulated smoke conditions and numerous emergency vehicles and first responders on scene as part of the exercise, which will be restricted to the western edge of the airfield. The exercise is closed to the media.

The airport’s emergency plan for mutual aid response will be utilized, enabling airport personnel and local emergency response organizations to train together and validate response procedures. In addition to Port Authority personnel, the exercise will include federal, state, local and airline partners. Additionally, Delta Air Lines and Endeavor Air are allowing the use of a Delta 717 and Endeavor CRJ-900 in this exercise.
